This program was attended by 22 senior academic leaders including a Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellors, Deans and Directors of Universities from UK who are undergoing training to transform their own universities to become entrepreneurial.

This is a significant honour and recognition earned by the Uva Wellassa University for establishing as an entrepreneurial university in Sri Lanka in such a short period since commencing in June 2005. The program was held from 5-8 May, 2010. Chandra Embuldeniya is the founder Vice Chancellor of the University and he formulated and implemented the new strategic concept.

The University is now conducting 11 degree programs on value addition to the national resources and will produce the first batch of graduates this year while hosting 1800 students.

This program conducted in four modules provides the training needed by university leadership seeking to innovate, to create and realize greater opportunities and to develop capacity for responding to challenges. Chandra Embuldeniya said that the Uva Wellassa University being an all entrepreneurial university and driven on a vision of being the centre of excellence for value addition to the national resource base has provided a model and a strategy for the universities around the world for transforming into entrepreneurial universities. He said that the universities must adapt rapidly if they are to continue creating public value.

The Entrepreneurial University Leadership Program explores both the concept and its application, embracing governance systems, organizational design and the development of personal skills for entrepreneurial leadership.
