Cabinet Sub-committee appointed

A Cabinet Sub-Committee has been appointed to prepare a National
Policy Framework on Admission of Students to Grade 1 from 2011 on the
instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Due to the urgency of the matter, the report is to be submitted
within one week for discussion at the next Cabinet meeting.
Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella explaining the Cabinet decisions
before the Media yesterday, said the Cabinet had granted approval to a
memorandum submitted by Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena in this
regard.
Minister Rambukwella said the intention behind the move was to help
parents by eradicating admission related hassles, alleviating tension
and providing equal opportunities to all students.
The Committee comprises Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena,
Higher Education Minister S.B.Dissanayake, Petroleum Industries Minister
Susil Premjayanth,Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardene,
Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Power and Energy Minister
Patali Champika Ranawaka, Construction, Engineering Services, Housing
and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa and State Resources and
Enterprise Development Minister P. Dayaratne.
