SEC should be in forefront of country's development

Giving priority to the facilities and comforts of top officials in any institution are not the ideal way to uplift an develop that institution. For that to happen priority should be given to the needs and facilities of the ordinary workers, Construction, Engineering, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.

He said the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) should be in the forefront of the country's development drive.

He was addressing the employees on his first visit to the SEC yesterday following the appointment of a new board of management.

Emphasizing the importance of leadership for any function Minister Weerawansa said that perfect and trustful leadership would help to take up challenges. "It had been proved by our victorious Armed Forces during the battle over terrorism".

He assured that he will give the political leadership to the institution to overcome the drawbacks which it had been faced with while making it a viable entity to compete with similar institutions in the construction field.

He appealed to employees not to try to impose their individual political ideologies to block the institute's progress.

Stern action will be taken against such elements who try to impose their will, he said.
