Abudction, possession of firearms :
UNP candidate, two others refused bail

Colombo Additional Magistrate Kumari Abeyratne yesterday refused bail
for Colombo District UNP Candidate Susil Kindelpitiya and two others
remanded in connection with abductions a young woman and possessing a
firearm.
Refusing bail for Susil Kumara Kindelapitiya, Ruwan Kumara and
Nishantha Amarasinghe, the Magistrate further remanded them till June 3.
Inspector Ranjan Samarasinghe of Mirihana Police producing a further
report, said investigations are not complete. The Inspector said the
three suspects were arrested while were abducting a woman. Police also
recovered a firearm from their possession.
The Magistrate also issued notice on the Government Analyst to
forward his report on the weapon found in the vehicle which the suspects
were travelling, on the next date.
Earlier, the Magistrate directed Police to forward the firearm
recovered from the suspects' possession to the Government Analyst and
obtain a report and produce in Court on the next date. Attorneys Ajith
Pathirana, Sanjey Gamage, Nishada Gamage, Subodhini David and Madura
Welgama appeared for the suspects.
