Colombo Deaf Team 'A' wins Jayatilleke trophy
Colombo Deaf Team 'A' led by the Sri Lankan deaf cricketer Lakshnan
Fernando displaying their talent to bag the Asela Nalin Jayatilleke
trophy as champions for the third successive year, beating the
Bandarawela Deaf Team 'A' in the final at the All Island Deaf six-a-side
Softball Cricket Tournament, which was played at the G. H. Buddhadasa
stadium, Pelawatte recently.
It was organised by the Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association under the
guidance of Shivantha Vivekanandan who is the current President of the
Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association.
Bandarawela Deaf Team 'A' was also awarded the Asela Nalin
Jayatilleke trophy as the runners up.
R. Asantha from Colombo Deaf Team 'A' who hit four sixes in one over
in final was awarded the Best Batsman trophy and cash prize while Sumudu
Lanka also from Colombo Deaf Team 'A' who won the Best Bowler trophy and
cash prize. Pubudu from Bandarawela Deaf Team 'A' won the man of the
series trophy and cash prize.
President Shivantha Vivekanandan who was the chief guest, stated that
the players will be selected to play in the leather ball cricket pool
and he gave away the trophies and cash prizes.
