Waidyatilaka - Technical Delegate for Shanghai Diamond League

P.H.D. Waidyatilaka the leading IAAF International Technical Official in Asia has been appointed as Technical Delegate for the Shanghai Diamond League championship which will take place on May 23.

This is the third successive occasion Waidyatilaka was invited to Shanghai. It is indeed a great honour for Sri Lanka that the IAAF has reposed so much faith and confidence in inviting Waidyatilaka the only Sri Lankan ITO as Technical Delegate for this star studded championship.

He was first appointed in 2008 on his return from officiating at the Beijing Olympics to this prestigious position which is the highest office in an International Championship and normally reserved for the IAAF Council members.

The IAAF was impressed by his conduct and performance in 2008 and was entrusted with the same task the following year.

Waidyatilaka will be responsible for all technical aspects of the championship including supervision of anti doping control.

At the end of the championship a comprehensive report has to be submitted to the IAAF on all aspects of the meet.
