Eleven Stars soccer champs

Eleven Stars Sports Club, Sainthmaruthu carried away the ‘Golden Trophy’ when they beat the Maligaikadu Super Sonic Sports Club by three goals to one at the final played at the Zahira College grounds, Kalmunai on Sunday. Six teams participated in this tournament organized by the Sports Federation of Sainthamarthu with the District Football Welfare Association.

In the semi-finals, Super Sonic Sports Club beat the victorious on a penalty shoot out while the Eleven Stars beat Zahirians by three goals to one. In the final, Eleven Stars went into the lead when M. Manaf scored a beautiful goal from the mid field. Just before the first half M. Rafeek added one more goal to give the winners a 2-0 lead at the short whistle.

Then the Super Sonic SC played with determination and reduced the lead through A.C.M. Cassim. A last minute efforts to equalize the game was fruitless against the Eleven Stars custodian Asfak Ahamed who did a grand job between the post.
