Government taken measures to strengthen economy

The Government has taken measures to strengthen the economy by establishing new industries using high technology and natural resources, said Technology and Research Minister Professor Tissa Vitarana.

The Minister expressed these ideas when he visited the Dalada Maligawa on May 14 to pay homage. Later, the Minister who called on the Mahanayake Theras of Malwatte and Asgiri Chapters said that the Government has created the opportunities to dawn a new era.

He requested the public to work together shredding away ethnic, religious and party differences.

The Government has set up about 252 centers of Science and Technology in rural level and more to be set up in the near future. Through these centres hundreds of thousands of youth can be provided with employment, the Minister added.

He emphasized the necessity of introducing varieties of fertilizer free of chemicals as some of our farmers face misadventures while using pesticides and weedicides.
