Museums sector highlights our heritage

The Museum sector which has an educational, archaeological and cultural value highlights our heritage states National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi in a message to mark International Museums Day which falls today.

The message said today we are celebrating International Museums Day in an atmosphere of freedom and national unity after defeating the 30 year a courage of terrorism and launching the Mahinda Chinthana policies of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. This day will also open the path for our society to recall our past events and evaluate historic phenomena.

Sri Lanka celebrates International Museums Day centred rural Vakarai MMV in Batticaloa on the theme Museum and social co-existence. This will be an opportunity for all communities to unite and take the message of a common cultural heritage to the world. Today's highlights will include a mobile museum exhibition and an exhibition of Sri Lankan minerals and minerals brought down from the moon and I wish the International Museums Day celebrations all success.
