Woman wanted for assaulting cop arrested
A woman wanted in connection with an alleged
assault on a Police Sergeant was arrested by Matara Police near
Matara Fort. The suspect had shot in the air and attacked two
persons including the Police Sergeant with a club.

Defence Secretary commissions 60 ton slipway at Northern Naval
Command
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa alone with
Chief of Defence Staff, the Army Commander, Inspector General of
Police and other VIPs visited the Northern Naval Command
Headquarters at Kankasanthurai on April 29. He was received by Navy
Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and Northern Naval Area
Commander Rear Admiral Susith Weerasekara. The Defence Secretary had
opened of the 60 ton slipway which had been designed and constructed
by the engineers and the divers of the Sri Lanka Navy.
