Iron Man 2 in town


Iron Man 2

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film based on the legendary Marvel Super Hero Iron Man, reuniting director Jon Favreau and Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr.

In Iron Man 2, the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

The movie will begin screening at Majestic cinema and Max cinema, Anuradhapura from May 7.

 

 



How to Train Your Dragon

Dragon roars at box office top spot

Animated hit How to Train Your Dragon roared back to top spot at the North American box office.

The Dreamworks fantasy about a young Viking who tames a dragon lost pole position last week to “Kick-Ass,” but takings of 15.3 million dollars saw it return to top spot, box office.

In at number two was new release The Back-Up Plan, a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez, which took 12.2 million dollars in receipts over the Friday-Saturday-Sunday period.

Slapstick comedy Date Night, starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell as a jaded married couple who land in a series of explosive situations after a rare romantic evening without their kids, retained third with 10.5 million dollars.

How to Train Your Dragon is screening at Majestic cinema till May 6.

The Man Of Steel gets set for Christmas 2012

Warner Bros. Pictures and The IMAX Corporation announced an extensive partnership that will see 20 films get the 70mm treatment, including the conclusion of the epic Harry Potter film series, Zach Snyder’s Legends Of The Guardians and the forthcoming third Batman movie from Christopher Nolan and his developing Superman project.

No release dates were mentioned or previously set for the latter pair of highly anticipated comic book adaptations.

But today the studio and co-financier Legendary Pictures may have agreed on a tentative release date for what is currently being referred to as The Man Of Steel - Christmas 2012.
