Both movies were highly appreciated by critics as well as movie buffs
however it was Cho Kyeong-Duk’s Sex Volunteer which bagged the prizes of
best film and best director.
Ira Handa Yata relates the tale of a two war heroes who meet in the
grasp of the LTTE. They become fast friends but when one dies in the
battle field the other takes it upon himself to continue his companion’s
mission.
During this venture he learns about the touching tale of his Major’s
past and the humanity that lay within him.
Akasa Kusum portrays the life of Sandya Rani, an aging film star who
discovers strands of her past life after many years. Past memories haunt
her once she believes that her stint in stardom is over.
After premiering in Singapore an American film company representative
had approached director Ratnayake and expressed his wished to export and
distribute Ira Handa Yata.
The team is holding discussions about the project. Expect further
