D. S. Senanayake by 6 wkts

D. S. Senanayake College defeated the defending champions Royal College by six wickets in the Munchee inter school under 19 Twenty20 cricket tournament consolation final worked off at the NCC ground in Maitland Place yesterday.

Royal after being put into bat were restricted to 116 for 7 from their 20 overs despite a solid opening stand of 51 runs from Ramith Rambukwella (21) and Kithruwan Vithanage (29).

D. S. Senanayake College came back into the game during the latter stages with Malshan Gunasinghe causing the damage. Waruna Dissanayake hit a quick fire 33 but Royal College fell short by at least 20 runs at the end.

D. S. Senanayake College had no difficulties in reaching their target with Akila Weerasinghe smashing a run a ball 42 while Charith Sathrasinghe was unbeaten on 21.

Royal: 116 for 7 in 20 overs (R. Rambukwella 21, K. Vithanage 29, W. Dissanayake 33, M. Gunasinghe 2 for 17).

D. S. Senanayake: 117 for 4 in 18.2 overs (A. Weerasinghe 42, C. Satharasinghe 21 n.o, P. Sampath 2 for 22).
