Five soccerites suspended for match fixing

The Management Committee of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka
after preliminary inquiry has decided to suspend five National players
for match fixing. The Players suspended are Kasun Jayasuriya, E.B.
Channa, Satish Kumar, Asanka Viraj and Madushka Peiris.
The Committee which recorded statements at the preliminary inquiry
from National Coach Mohamed Amanulla, former coach Sampath Perera,
national player, Chathura Guneratne and Goal Keeper Y Satish Kumara
before taking the decision to suspend these players. The Committee is of
the view that according to the the inquiries made so far clearly show
that these players were engaged in illegal transactions which has
brought disrepute to the country at large the team and the Football
Federation of Sri Lanka and the sport as well.
All five players have been notified of this decision taken by the
Management Committee. A full scale inquiry will be conducted soon to
sort out matters relating to the issue and action will be taken
depending on the findings of the inquiry. |
