UPFA victory, people's victory - Wimal

The UPFA received a decisive victory at the recently concluded General Election since a majority have approved Government policies, Parliamentarian and National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa said.

The victory indicates that the people trust the Government and it is capable to direct the country to rapid development, he said.

"The UPFA under President Mahinda Rajapaksa's leadership received 144 seats out of 225. The Government can't let down the people as they are eagerly looking forward for progress," Weerawansa added.

The Government has to now work for the country's betterment and development, Weerawansa said.

He said the NFF had received a single seat from the national list.

Including the two elected seats, the three Members of Parliament will stand for the people and the country at their level best. There is no matter with the number of Members in Parliament. Even if a single member of NFF is in Parliament, he will do his maximum for the sake of the people and the country, Weerawansa said.
