Kindelpitiya refused bail

Colombo Additional Magistrate Kumari Abeyratne yesterday refused bail
for April 8 general election Colombo District UNP candidate Susil
Kindelpitiya and two others who had been remanded in connection with an
alleged abduction of a young woman and possession of a firearm.
Refusing bail to the three suspects Susil Kumara Kindelpitiya, Ruwan
Kumara and Nishantha Amarasinghe, the Magistrate further remanded them
till May 6.
The Welikada Police who appeared for the prosecution said the three
suspects were arrested while they were abducting a young woman. The
Police also recovered a firearm in their possession.
The Magistrate directed the Police to release the vehicle which the
suspects were travelling at the time of the incident to the registered
owner on a bond of Rs. 500,000.
The Magistrate also directed the Police to forward, the firearm
recovered from the possession of the suspects, to the Government Analyst
and obtain a report and produce in court on the next date.
Attorneys Nishada Gamage, Athula Ranagala and Sujeewa Senasinghe
appeared for the suspects. |
