Death of youth in Bambalapitiya sea:
Verdict of drowning

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka Jayaratne
yesterday returned a verdict of death due to drowning in the incident of
the Bambalapitiya youth death. The deceased was Balawarna Sivakumar of
Indrajothi Mawatha, Ratmalana.
The Judge observed that according to evidence before Court, Sivakumar
had gone into the high seas after he was attacked by several men with
stones and poles. According to evidence, Sivakumar was attacked with
poles and stones.
The suspects SI Wijendra Werawardena attached to Bambalapitiya
Police, Nishantha Samansiri of Moratuwa and Ranjith Pathiranage Raja of
Bambalapitya were further remanded till May 6.
Attorneys Jayantha Dias Nanayakkara and Sudarshini Gunaratne appeared
for the suspects. |
