Major General Janaka Perera assassination:

Eight acquitted

Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Dharshika Wimalasiri acquitted and discharged eight suspects out of the ten involved in the assassination case of Major General Janaka Perera.

The remaining two suspects were further remanded till April 5. They are Umar Habthab (1st accused) and S. Sudakaran (7th accused).

The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th suspects have been acquitted from all the charges framed against them. They are Jeinur Abdeen Musadik, Aboosely Jabil, Navoorgani Jemeen, Sulthan Abdul Ali, Mohamed Haniffa Uvais, R. Naboruban, M. Sivadasan and Abdul Kuddoos.

The Judge gave the order accordingly. The two remaining suspects will be indicted before the North Central Provincial High Court within 14 days.
