WPC hits at European resolution

Cuba: The World Peace Council (WPC) described the European Parliament's recent resolution against Cuba as immoral and full of political motivation.

In a statement issued in Havana, the WPC pointed out that the European Parliament's stance proves, once again, the European Union's role and its interference in the internal affairs of many countries and its purpose of overthrowing the Cuban Government.

The WPC added that the Parliament's imperialist interference suits US plans against Cuba. The European Union cannot teach democracy or human values to anybody, especially Cuba, because its actions are determined by hypocrisy and a double standard, the WPC said.

It recalled that while accusing Cuba, the European Union remains silent about the concentration camp in Guantanamo, a piece of Cuban territory the US has occupied illegally, where crimes and torture are committed every day. It has not dared mention the US aggressions against Cuba, the economic blockade and the unfair imprisonment of five Cuban patriots in US jails, which is an act of political revenge, the WPC noted.
