The foundation to uplift school education should be laid at the
primary stage, said ex ‘Wayamba’ Agriculture Minister and UPFA
Kurunegala District candidate Shantha Bandara recently.
He was addressing a ceremony held in the Alawwa Divisional
Secretariat auditorium to award scholarships and certificates for
schoolchildren of Samurdhi families who scored high marks at the GCE
Ordinary Level examination held in December 2009.
The Government budget allocation for the education uplift stood
higher than the allocation on national security. The President’s
commitment to uplift education should be appreciated. All National and
Provincial schools are State run schools, he said.
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country when compared with other countries.
President Rajapaksa is engaged in the development war, after winning the
terrorist war, which should be hailed by patriots in the country.
We all are duty-bound to strengthen the hands of the President to
overcome all difficulties, he said.
