CIMA launches Technical Paper Competition

The Technical Paper Competition is one of the initiatives taken by CIMA to keep their graduates fresh and progressive in their careers.

The competition is expected to enhance and expand an individuals technical knowledge, analytical skills and business acumen, especially in application of complex concepts to business organizations.

The 2010 competition is open till June 11, for local members and those who have completed the CIMA examination to submit a quality paper based on one of the pre-determined themes given by CIMA.

The winners will be adjudged by a panel of judges chaired by Sri Jayawardenepura University, Postgraduate Institute of Management Director, Dr. Uditha Liyanage and comprising Hayleys PLC, Strategic Business Development and Shared Services Head, Ravi Abeysuriya, Sri Jayawardenepura University, Accounting Department, Senior Lecturer, Mangala Fonseka, E and Y, Partner, Manil Jayasinghe and Cargills Ceylon PLC, Human Capital and Youth Development Director, Dr. Sunil Nawaratne.

Dr. Liyanage said the central purpose of the competition is to make its participants appreciate the value of an evidence-based approach to examining a theme of relevance.

CIMA Sri Lanka further supported this year’s participants by conducting a half day workshop on research techniques and analytical writing skills deliberated by Senior Consultant PIM Dr. Travis Perera on March 27, at the division’s auditorium.
