Household tips that save time and money!
* If you’ve added too much salt to a recipe, there are several
solutions,
1) add a little sugar.
2) in soups or stews, a raw potato slice added to the mixture will
absorb the salt, and
3) a second batch can be made, omitting the salt, and added to the
first batch. Combine the two mixtures and freeze half for later
* Rice will be fluffier and whiter if you add 1 teaspoon of lemon
juice to each quart of water.
* Putting half an apple in the cake box will keep cake moist.
* When pressing pants, iron the top part on the wrong side. Iron the
legs on the right side. This gives the pockets and waistband a smooth
look.
* Have problems with loose buttons? On buttons that have four holes,
sew only two holes at a time. Break the thread and knot. Then, sew the
other two holes and knot. This way, when the button comes looses on one
side, the button has a chance of staying with the garment! Also, using
dental floss or elastic thread when sewing on buttons will help keep
buttons on longer. householdtips.org
