Ministry sets up polls postal monitoring unit

The Posts and Telecommunication Ministry has set up an election postal monitoring unit under the supervision of the Ministry Secretary.

Assistant Director (Planning) E.Y.P. Soysa heads the unit. Other members are G.R. Gooneratne Banda, Chamika Munasinghe, Siri Kelum Thenuwara, A.W.M. Fayis Khan and Sidath Indika Jagoda.

The unit’s main task is to assist the Ministry’s postal activities and coordinate between the department and the voters.

This unit will have no connection with the Elections Commissioner’s official duties.

The duties include distribution of letters relating to postal votes and postal cards among the voters.
