Akon denied visa

The Government yesterday decided not to grant a visa to popular singer Akon to enter Sri Lanka for his debut concert in Colombo.

The Government arrived at this decision after taking in to account a number of allegations levelled by various quarters in the country over a controversial video album.

This video features Akon with scantily dressed girls dancing around a Buddha statue.

Akon was denied entry to a number of Asian countries for offending Buddhist and Hindu culture and religious way of life.
