Athletic selection trials
The first selection trial conducted by the Athletic Association of
Sri Lanka will be held at the newly built Mahinda Rajapaksa
International Sports Complex in Diyagama on May 22 and 23. The athletic
events will be held for both men and women.
The selections will focus on the Commonwealth Games which is to be
held in New Delhi, India in October and the Asian Games in to be held in
China in November this year. Entries should be sent to Col. Sudath
Madugalle, Chairman, Tournament Committee, Athletic Association of Sri
Lanka, No: 33, Torrington Avenue, Colombo 07, on or before May 07.

Opener Charith Satharasinghe hit an unbeaten half century to guide D.
S. Senanayake College to a morale boosting five wicket victory over
Vidyartha College, Kandy in their inter school under 19 limited overs
cricket tournament first round match worked off at Wijerama Mawatha
yesterday.
Vidyartha: 189 in 47.5 overs (L. Abeyratne 67, D. Gunatilleke 40, M.
Ijaz 4 for 32, S. Samarasinghe 2 for 36).
