National amity and progress

The objective of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is not to suppress the
Opposition but to fulfill the aspirations of the people by presenting
his people oriented policy program to develop the country, Cultural
Affairs and National Heritage Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said.
Country at heart |
* President
unified the country that remained divided
* President protected country’s
assets, public sector
* People-oriented program to
develop country |
Addressing a UPFA rally at Mawarala he said the President sought the
vote of the people to carry forward the Mahinda Chintana development
policy program that had succeeded in implementing development programs
even while there was a terrorist war in the North and East.
He unified the country that remained divided at the time he was
elected President and is now working toward dispelling suspicion among
various groups of people. His aim was to achieve national amity and
progress.
The Minister said the UNP–JVP election manifestos were merely copied
from the Mahinda Chintana policy as they have no policies of their own
and both these parties would be rejected by the people. Most governments
that came to power after 1977 sold national assets and public sector
organizations but President Mahinda Rajapaksa protected the country’s
assets and the public sector.
Therefore the people would elect the UPFA with a resounding majority
to strengthen the hands of the President and no opposition party would
be able to prevent it. |
