Sri Lanka - Pakistan Business Council AGM held:
Emphasis on increased trade
Sri Lanka - Pakistan Business Council (SLPBC) which functions under
the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its 17th Annual General Meeting on
March 11.
The new office-bearers. Immediate Past President Lalin Fernando,
Vice President Sega Nagendra, Pakistan High Commission Charge d’
Affaires Mariam Saeed, President Upali Panditharatne, Vice
President Rohitha Tilakaratne, Secretariat official Satheeka
Kavisekera, Rizwan Ghani, Gulam Chatoor, Zahara Cader and S.
Deivanayagam. |
The Sri Lanka - Pakistan Business Council was established in 1991 to
promote trade, investment, tourism and services between the two
countries.
Pakistan High Commission Charge d’ Affaires Mariam Saeed was the
chief guest.
Saeed extended her congratulations to Sri Lanka for achieving peace,
after a decades-long conflict.
She expressed her confidence that with the dawn of peace, Sri Lanka’s
potential towards new linkages and new areas of co-operation would
increase and emphasised the cordial role that Pakistan hopes to play in
the country’s future.

Lalin Fernando, thanked the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo, the
Consulate General in Pakistan, the Committee and the members of SLPBC
and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce for the support extended during his
period as the President.
Director/General Manager of Mansel (Ceylon) Ltd Upali Panditharatne
was elected as the President of SLPBC for the 2009/2010. |
