M. T. M. Hanafi Malwana special correspondent
I will transform Biyagama free trade zone into a economic hub of
Gampaha district by expanding it and provide more employment
opportunities to thousands of unemployed youths.
Vocational training will also be provided for youths and school
dropouts in the required fields, said Gampaha district UPFA leader and
senior presidential advisor Basil Rajapaksa.
Basil Rajapaksa was addressing an election rally held in Biyagama
last Friday.
The rally was organised by Gampaha district UPFA candidate Duleep
Wijesekara.
Basil Rajapaksa further said, that it was from Gampaha district the
President gained largest support at the last Presidential election. It
is to express sincere gratitude and reciprocate only, that I came
forward to lead Gampaha, he said.
He said, through Mahinda Chinthana idiri dekma Sri Lanka will be in
the forefront internationally. Simultaneously Gampaha district will be
vastly developed than any other district in the country.
My ambition is to develop Gampaha in all aspects not only materially
but also morally.
All infrastructure facilities will be provided to every nook and
corner of the district and make sure that all children get good
education, he said.
The President with his executive powers created a peaceful atmosphere
in which all people can live freely anywhere in the country, he added.
He noted that President never hesitated to undertake development
activities even when the war was at its climax.
Our Government sold no government institution to foreign countries
and will be in the same stand for ever, he said. All main roads in the
district have been carpeted through my Ran aruna project and number of
overhead bridges have been built during last four years. More overhead
bridges will be constructed if needed, he added.
Biyagama SLFP Chief Organiser and UPFA Gampaha district candidate
Duleep Wijesekera in his address said, that most of the development
projects were hampered as there was no MP for Biyagama electorate for
the last 20 years. |
