Foreign elements trying to destabilize country
Shirley WIJESINGHE
Some countries supporting International Terrorism are now trying to
destabilize the country through the United Nations, Plantation
Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne said. No room will be given by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa for such elements, he said.
He was addressing an election rally organized in Gampola, recently.
Minister Jayaratne said President Rajapaksa is not ready to go by the
instructions of the UN General Secretary, he said.
He described the effort of the UN Secretary General to appoint a
panel to inquire into human rights violation of Sri Lanka as a clear
interference in the internal affairs of the country.
Minister Jayaratne said today terrorism had been spread over 66
countries including some powerful countries. But no country was able to
eliminate terrorism.
This country had lost thousands of lives due to terrorism.
Those countries point their fingers on the violation of human rights
without any foundation.
The upcoming elections will be an opportunity to face all rival
elements at local and international level. |
