Nawaloka roduces triplets
Nawaloka Fertility Centre, through an assisted reproductive procedure
(vitrification) has succeeded in getting triplets for a childless
couple.
The couple had undergone IVF treatment in 2008, which had proved
unsuccessful.
In April 2009 they underwent a frozen embryo transfer procedure at
the Nawaloka Fertility Centre and triplets were born last December in
Peradeniya.
"One in five couples is deprived of having a healthy baby.
If a couple does not conceive naturally within the first year of
marriage, we advise them to seek specialist guidance as soon as
possible, to determine the cause of their infertility. We can help them
realise their dream," said Nawaloka Fertility Centre Administrative
Medical Officer Dr Shan Perera. Dr Perera was speaking of the trauma of
infertility suffered by many couples today, stating emphatically that
help is now at hand, with the advent of assisted reproductive treatment.
The Centre has a medical team with a combined experience of over half
a decade in assisted reproduction.
The team is headed by Dr Shan Perera who has 25 years of experience
in medical administration and Dr Nandita Thakkar, a Consultant from
India.
