Tharindu first centurion in ‘F’ Div

Tharindu Weranga from David Pieris Motor Co. Ltd., ‘B’ hogged the limelight, being the first centurion in the DSI Group sponsored ‘A’ trophy, MCA ‘F’ division 30 overs league tournament, which got underway last week end. Weranga scored a brilliant 115 not out in just 74 balls, which included 12 fours and 7 sixes for DPMC ‘B’ against Hilton Colombo to take the match away from the hoteliers and win by four wickets.

Weranga went in when the ‘Bjaj Boys’ were in deep trouble with 5 wickets down for just 50 runs and stayed there until the end, engaged in an unbroken partnership of 100 runs with Dilshan Karunasena 16 not out.

The135 runs for the sixth wicket put on by Kanchana Ekanayake (51) and Suranga Rodrigo (80 not out with 8 fours and 4 sixes) gave Aitken Spence a creditable four wicket win over Union Assurance.

Citi Bank NA scored a heart stopping one wicket win, with three balls to spare over DFCC Bank.

A century partnership (105) for the 2nd wicket by Muditha Wijekoon (72 not out in 52 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes) and Ranesh Handunnetti (40 not out) propelled Slimline to a comfortable nine wickets win over Informatics.

Finlay put up the highest team total 235 for 6 in 30 overs, which was adequate to beat Data Entry by 17 runs. The tournament will be continued this week-end , on 14th of March with a card of 08 matches.

At Thurstan ground Citi Bank NA beat DFCC Bank by 1 wicket.

DFCC: 158 for 9 in 30-overs (T. Kaluperuma 35, H. Perera 40, S. Abeyratne 22, N. Pradeep Kumara 2/15, M.D. Galagoda 3/40, D. Edirisinghe 3/30)

Citi Bank NA : 159 for 9 in 29.3 overs (D. Edirisinghe 48, N. Pradeep Kumara 45, J. Athukorala 2/40, M. Fernando 3/20).

At Thurstan ground: Slimline beat Informatics by 9 wickets.

Informatics (won the toss) 145 for 9 in 30-overs (N. Mendis 32, K. Dharmasena 30, J. Rajakaruna 20, E. Joseph 2/20, S. Priyanthaka 3/20).

Slimline : 146 for 1 in 18.2 overs (M. Wijekoon 72 not out, A.Samarakoon 21, R. Handunetti 40 not out ).

At Thurstan ground: Finlays beat Data Entry by 17 runs.
