Pakistan’s support for construction cricket grounds in Sri lanka
A ground-breaking ceremony of a cricket ground was held at Ananda
Sastralaya Kotte with Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogallagama as the Chief
Guest.
Pakistan Acting High Commissioner Mariam Saeed and Sri Lanka Cricket
Board Chairman D.S. de Silva were also present.
This project is being implemented with Pakistan Cricket Board
Financial assistance which will also sponsor construction of two more
similar cricket grounds in Sri Lanka. The completion period of this
project is estimated to be two months, which would include construction
of grass turf, ground development and installation of sprinkler system.
Sri Lanka Cricket will be the supervising body for this project which
will also contribute matching grant for the completion of project.
Minister Bogollagama appreciated the support by the Government and
people of Pakistan. He said this project is a manifestation of the deep
rooted friendly relations between the two countries.
Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan Saeed said this project is a
gift from the Government and people of Pakistan to Sri Lankans and it
will further strengthen the bond of friendship between the two sides.
