STF, police seize hidden weapons haul

The Police Special Task Force together with Police have seized a haul
of weapons during the past four days in Mullaitivu, Akkaraipattu and
Valaichchenai hidden by the LTTE.
Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the
STF found 2 claymore mines weighing 12.5 kg and 7 kg, a suicide kit, 9
torpedo bombs, 8 detonators, 2 decode wire rolls, 1 claymore wire roll,
2 claymore holders, a remote controller, 21 RPG bullets, 2,090 MPMG
bullets, 1,500 bolt bullets, 129 GPMP bullets, 72 ammunition of 12.7
type, 20 kg of C-4 detonators, five T56 weapons, one weapon of 2.2 type,
6 mobile phones, six 60mm motors, 4 RPG chargers and 12 RPG bullets at
Pudukudiyiruppu, Kariamulli Vaikkal and Kaiweli in Mullaitivu district.
The group was led by OIC of the Trincomalee Police STF IP Sudath
Fonseka. Trincomalee Police are conducting investigations.
Meanwhile a group of Police officers led by East, Southern Division
DIG R. M. Weerasooriya yesterday seized a T-56 weapon two magazines and
59 bullets, one mobile phone and two live grenades hidden by the LTTE at
Arumbe in Akkaraipattu.
The Akkaraipattu Police are conducting further investigations.
A group of Police officers led by Crime OIC of the Valaichchenai
Police IP M.G. Weeraratne yesterday seized a T 56 weapon, four magazines
and 115 bullets at Kinyaadi in Valaichchenai. Valaichchenai Police are
conducting investigations.
