Full stop to hate politics

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has issued instructions to put a full
stop to hate politics and if there were any reports to the contrary the
Government would take corrective measures promptly, said SLFP General
Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena yesterday.
Speaking at an SLFP press conference held at the Mahaweli Centre,
Minister Sirisena said when the Government was informed about few such
incidents immediate corrective actions were taken.
The Minister said this was in contrast to the time when UNP assumed
power. The 2005 election was free of hate politics and it was the same
at this year's Presidential Election too. The Government never advocated
hate politics.
He asserted that the policy of this Government was not to take
revenge.
Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranathunga said the
Government was confident in securing the very small percentage to garner
a two third majority at the General Election that it failed to obtain at
the Presidential Election.
He said the voters could not be cheated by the UNP and the JVP any
longer.
The voters cannot be fooled for long and the UNP and JVP have come to
a stage where they have lost their capacity for cheating the voters.
