Govt never violated Fonseka's rights

Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena expressing regret over the
statement made by retired Chief Justice Sarath N Silva yesterday said
the Government has not violated Sarath Fonseka's Fundamental Rights in
any way.
The Minister said every effort has been taken to ensure that all
facilities are given to Fonseka while in Army custody. The Minister was
speaking at a press conference at the Media Ministry. He said the Sri
Lanka Army relaxed the procedures under which a military officer is held
in custody when it comes to the arrest of Sarath Fonseka.
The Minister said Sarath Fonseka has been accommodated in the
official residence where the present Navy Commander lived earlier.
Minister Abeywardena regret over the statement made by retired Chief
Justice Sarath N. Silva on Sarath Fonseka's arrest at a time when a
judicial process is under way.
The Minister added that the Government is ready to accept the outcome
of the judicial process.
He expressed dismay over the statement by retired Chief Justice as
the Supreme Court has ordered the Sri Lanka Army to detain him till
April 26. Minister Abeywardena said the Supreme Court is fully satisfied
with the facilities provided to the retired Army Commander while in
custody.
