Ranminitenna to open on March 30

Ranminitenna Tele Cinema Village which is a total creation of local
engineers will be opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on March 30.
Addressing a media conference yesterday Mass Media Minister Lakshman
Yapa Abeywardene said the Tele Cinema Village in Ranminitenna is the
first of its kind in Sri Lanka and it will fulfill a long felt need of
the film and tele drama industry. Ranminitenna Tele Cinema Village has
been established on a 235 acre land. At the first phase of the project
the Government has spent Rs. 450 million out of a total allocation of Rs.
500 million.
Under this project all the facilities and services for the tele drama
and cinema production have already been set up inside the village. The
village consists of villas, accommodation for production crew and actors
and actresses, restaurants, workshop buildings, studio buildings,
service buildings, vehicle parking facilities and so on.
The producers can complete their production within the village since
all facilities are available inside the village. Apart from that the
village has natural environment, consisting of rivers, lakes,
mountainous locations, forests, village and urban locations as well as a
sea. It will provide resident facilities for over 100 artistes and it
will generate a considerable number of employment opportunities for the
people of the area.
"Ramninitenna will provide prospective film and tele drama producers
with all amenities and services needed from the very beginning up to the
end of their tele drama or film projects. It has been designed and
implemented in accordance with plans formulated after consultations made
with producers, artistes, musicians, engineers," Minister Abeywardena
added.
