Indian National Throwball team win both matches

Indian National Throwball men's and women's and Galle District Men's and Men's Women teams were involved in two matches at Baddegama Kumme Public Grounds recently.

The International Throwball matches were worked off Baddegama in the Galle District.

They were organized on a grand scale by the Galle District Throwball Association. The Association helping the sportsmen and sportswomen of the District to promote throwball in the Galle District.

The President of Sri Lanka Throwball Federation Yasa Ramachandra, President of Galle District Throwball Federation Chandra Kumara Jayasekara, Secretary G.D.T.F. Thamara Illesinghe, Director of Sports, Southern Province L.S.R. de Silva, Southern Province Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs U.G.D. Ariyatilleka and International Throwball Referee S. Manolso graced the occasion. This encounter was between the Experienced and highly skilled Indian team who are the present Asian Champion and the throwball team of the Galle District Picked from all over the District Including remote areas.

This event gave the much needed exposure to local players and it gave opportunities for the Sports loving local public to witness interesting international matches.

Galle District women's team coach Thamara Illesinghe refereed the women's match between Galle District and Indian national team.

The first throwball game was between Indian men's national team and Galle District men's team. After successive deliveries India won 2-0.

But Galle District Women's tam changed the situation at the beginning and equalised at 1-1 early in the game. But at the end Indian women's team won the match 2-1.

Indian team won both matches. But it was a good experience for the Sri Lankan players.
