Police stations in all liberated areas

Police stations will be set up in all liberated areas in the North this year to facilitate normal civilian life and civil administration in them, said IGP Mahinda Balasuriya. He was speaking after opening the new police station on the A-32 road at Pooneryn Sunday.

Arms and explosives recovered

Security Forces continuing search operations in the North unearthed a large stock of arms and explosives left behind by the LTTE cadres in Vellaimullivaikkal. Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said troops of the 68 Division launched an extensive combined operation with a Police team in the Vellaimullivaikkal area on Sunday and recovered a haul of arms and explosives.
