Peterites clinch Rugby Sevens Title

St’ Peters College Bambalapitiya showed their class in rugby in the curtain raiser beating the formidable Trinity outfit by 38 points (4 goals, 2 tries) to 10 (2 tries) in the all Island Division one under 20 seven a side tournament held at the Royal Sports Complex on February 26 and 27.

It was St’ Peter’s all the way who beat all the teams they confronted comfortably. The Bambalapitiya lads drew first blood planting a superb try by Dhanushka Ranjan followed by tries by Rajith Perera, Banuka Nanayakkara at regular intervals. During lemons the scores were St’ Peter’s 19 and Trinity 5 a try by S. Armstrong at the corner flag.

After the turn around the Peterites who played with their hearts out planted three more tries by Keith Gurusingha, S. Herath and S. Perera while for Trinity one try was scored by Akila Disanayaka. The plate was won by Wesley College who had their own way scoring a resounding 38 points (4 goals 2 tries) to win over St’ Sylvester College Kandy.

The Bowl was won by Royal College Panadura who beat St’ John’s college Nugegoda 33 points to nil.
