Bridegroom ends up in cop house

A bridegroom had to visit the Kolonna police station to make a statement before setting out with his bride for the honeymoon on his wedding day due to an incident of murder during the nuptial ceremony.

A person who was assisting the video cameraman during the wedding was stabbed to death by an invitee following a heated argument between the two over a personal problem.

The victim was identified as S. Mohanraja, 20, of Neelagama Kahawatta.

Police acting on the statement made by the bridegroom have arrested a suspect. The inquest was due to be held at the Kolonna hospital.
