Opposition Alliance splits up - UPFA Gen Secy
The common Opposition Alliance has by now split into three groups
and, as such, the UPFA will definitely get more votes this time to
secure a two thirds majority at the forthcoming General Election, UPFA
General Secretary and Education Minister Susil Premajayanth said.
He made this revelation while participating at the inauguration of
the election operation office at Gunesinghapura Pettah last Friday.
The UNP is fast dwindling its support base in Colombo Central
electorate. It is the Government that solved the problems faced by
people around Gunesinghepura. We have already launched a special
development program in Colombo city. We have also started buses to
Jaffna and other distant places from this Gunesignhepura, the Minister
said.
Ranil Wickremesinghe’s assertion that he wouldn’t give a two thirds
majority is clear proof of the UPFA victory. That means he will not give
a two thirds majority to this Government even if the UPFA wins at the
General Elections, he said. However, the UPFA candidates are highly
devoted to the welfare of the people. Therefore, the substantial
majority of them will definitely ensure a 65 percent or two thirds
majority for the UPFA at this election.
For the next seven years, it will be none other than President
Mahinda Rajapaksa who will be the Executive President of this country.
The UPFA has won all the Provincial Councils. Likewise, the people in
the country will vote us enmasse at the forthcoming General Election so
that Sri Lanka would be made a model nation in Asia under Mahinda
Chinthana program. Minister said. |
