OPA condemns Miliband
The Organization of Professional Associations (OPA) at its last
meeting resolved to strongly condemn the attendance of Great Britain
Foreign Secretary David Miliband at the Global Tamil Forum, an LTTE
Front Organization and David Miliband addressing the same.
The OPA is of the firm view that this sort of conduct of British
Parliamentarians gives the impression of an attempt to give a new
lifeline abroad to the LTTE.
Careless driver fined
Gampaha group corr.
A person who was charged for careless driving and causing serious
injuries without an insurance certificate was fined Rs. 10,500 by
Gampaha Additional Magistrate Indira Attanayake.
Buddhist talk
Mallika Karunaratne will deliver a Buddhist Talk in English on the
Buddhist concept of happiness for laypersons at a meeting of the
Servants of the Buddha Society, Maitri Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya,
on March, 6 at 4.30 pm.

Lecture
The Institute for Research and Development will conduct a public
lecture on mental illness and stigma: Ignorance, prejudice and
discrimination on March 2 at 3 p.m. at the Institute for Research and
Development 393/3, Lily Avenue, off Robert Gunawardena Mawatha,
Battaramulla.
Ronnie at OTSC Tent
Ronnie Lietch will be the guest artiste at the 131st Battle of the
Blues at Old Thomian Swimming Club Tent at the SSC grounds on March 11,
12 and 13. OTSC Family Tent will be located at the SLC Grand Stand Upper
Floor. Ronnie Lietch will entertain members and guests to the

Commemoration ceremony
A commemorative ceremony to mark the 19th death anniversary of former
Defence Minister and UNP Chairman Gen. Ranjan Wijeratne will be held
near the Ranjan Wijeratne statue at Havelock Road, Colombo at 9 a.m.

The Hendala Readers Club will hold a book exhibition at the Hendala

A public lecture on 'Communication for 21 Century', by veteran
journalist Edwin Ariyadasa, will be held at the Wimalasurendra

Death of K.A. Perera
Kapila Somaratne
K.A. Perera, Wadduwa Lake House special correspondent passed away at
the age of 80. After a brief illness, he was admitted to the
Jayewardenepura Hospital a month ago. He was a retired English Teacher
at the Wadduwa Central College.
Funeral will take place at the Wadduwa Public Cemetery Wednesday at
4.00 p.m. The cortege will leave residence at Wadduwa Vidyala Mawatha. |
