LLF an alternative

Left Liberation Front Leader Dr. Wickramabahu Karunaratne yesterday
said that his party has emerged an alternative to the Rajapaksa
Government .
“The Government and the parties in the opposition hinge on
chauvinistic policy and they are dependent on war which ravaged the
country for years,” he said. He said the Left Liberation Front (LLF) is
an exception to parties based on chauvinism.
Wickramabahu was speaking at a special press briefing at the NSSP
Headquarters in Colombo yesterday He said that the LLF is the only party
which has genuine desire to establish free and fair society in the
country. Wickremabahu said the people of the country have been deprived
of their basic human rights and his party is dedicated to ensure that
freedom and social justice prevail in the country. “We do not accept the
Sarath Fonseka’s policies. But we extended our support to a collective
effort to ensure free and fair society in the country”, he added.
He also said that his party has fielded a strong teams of candidates
representing all segments of the society for the upcoming General
election and TNA renegade S. Sivajilingam and several parties in the
North with leftist background have already expressed support to them.
“We have included professionals, trade union representatives and
civil society representatives to the election fray this time, he added.
He said the India is exploiting the country’s resources and the
Government keeps mum on it. He added that the war on terrorism was
carried out by the Government on the directives of US and Indian
Government.
He added that the Government led by Mahinda Rajapaksa has become a
cat’s paw of external forces. |
