The nutritious food provision program for schoolchildren in the
Matale district has been subject to strict supervision according to the
Food Act introduced by the Government, health officials said.
The district health service office had taken this decision after a
child died and 168 other children were hospitalised following food
poisoning.
Health Authorities have directed divisional health service officials
to supervise the provision of free meals to schoolchildren.
Action will be taken against contractors providing meals to children
who do not follow the Food Act, officials told the Daily News. |
