Matara team 'C' emerge deaf six-a-side Cricket Champions

Matara team 'C' came out with flying colours displaying their talent to bag the Champions Trophy and cash prize, beating the strong Anuradhapura Team 'A' in the finals of the All Island Deaf Six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament at the Sanath Jayasuriya Stadium, Matara, recently.

The tourney was organized by the Ruhunu Sumaga Circle of the Deaf, Matara under the guidance of President Saman Priyantha and Vice President Mohamad Niyas. Shivantha Vivekanandan, President, Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association stated that the players will be selected to play in the leather ball cricket pool under coaches of Jayalath Aponso and Bobby Fernando.

Anuradhapura team 'A' was awarded a cash prize as the runners up. Sajeewa Sandaruwan from the Anuradhapura Team 'A' won the Best Batsman award and a cash prize, while Nishantha Pushpakumara., Sujeewa Lakmal and Priyankara Madushanka, all from the Matara Team 'C' were awarded the Best Bowler, the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series Awards and the cash prizes.

Sarath Kumara, President, Sri Lanka Central Federation of the Deaf was the Chief Guest and gave away the awards.

Matara Team 'C' beat Colombo team 'A'

Matara Team 'C' 26 runs all out in 3.5 overs

Colombo Team 'A' 15 runs all out in 4.4 overs.

Anuradhapura Team 'A' beat Matara Team 'A'

Matara Team 'A' 20 runs for 1 wicket in 5 overs.

Anuradhapura Team 'A' 21 runs for 4 wickets in 3.3. overs.

Finals

Matara Team 'C' beat Anuradhapura Team 'A'

Matara Team 'C' 24 runs for 3 wickets in 5 overs.

Anuradhapura Team 'A' 10 runs all out in 4.5 overs.
