Tier B cricketers get a chance

The national cricket selectors have decided to consider promising players who have performed exceptionally well in the Tier ‘B’ tournament for selection in the Bank of Ceylon Inter Provincial tournaments with immediate effect.

The Twenty20 tournament will get underway on Wednesday at the Pallekelle Stadium which will be followed by the Four day tournament next month.

In the recently concluded Inter Provincial limited overs tournament the national selectors had a close look of some of the young hopefuls who proved their talent, temperament and skill levels to represent the country.

Some of the senior players and the contracted players have not lived upto the expectations in the Inter Provincial tournament. Based on this fact the national selectors have turned towards the Tier ‘B’ players who will be given equal opportunities for national consideration. -
