The Mallavi Police yesterday seized 2,023 live bullets of 7.62 by 39 type at Namnikulam, Mallavi abandoned by the LTTE. The search was conducted on an information received by the Intelligence Unit. Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody stated that the Police are conducting investigation.

Meanwhile the Peliyagoda Police arrested two persons with 30 fake Rs 1,000 notes yesterday. A group of Police led by IP Upul Samarasinghe arrested one suspect from Nivandama, Ja-Ela with two fake notes and the other from Batawala, Padukka with 26 fake notes. The investigation was initiated following an information given by a person along with two fake notes. The CID is conducting further investigation after the suspects and the counterfeit notes were handed over to the CID.

The Kochchikade Police arrested a 45-year-old suspect yesterday alleged to have killed his 37-year-old wife and burnt her body in a brick kiln. According to the Police the suspect has killed the woman by cutting her with an axe at Otharawadiya, Katana over a family dispute.
