Peaceful environment encourages tourism

The peaceful political environment, with an unprecedented majority of votes endorsing the extension of the term of President Mahinda Rajapaksa has given a big boost to tourism.

Sri Lanka is the safest destination and tourist arrivals have quadrupled, said Tourism Minister, Achala Jagoda at the exhibition of Deyata Kirula.

"Whatever innovations, and facilities we make, they won't catch up tourism unless the country has a peaceful condition.

Tourism unfolds other avenues of opportunities. It promotes our products known to the world, and also promotes foreign investment.

The Dalada Maligawa has become the most congested congregation of Tourists especially from India, Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands.
