There must be a strong government to stabilize the country to make
Sri Lanka develop and pride of Asia on par with developed countries,
youth affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.
She was addressing a conference at the Eheliyagoda Co-operative
auditorium.
She said the people must join hands with the president to make this
country pride of Asia. The President is steering the country towards a
giant development era. Mega development schemes have been earmarked and
Sri Lanka will enter to the category of developed nations soon. "Sri
Lanka goes into history as the only country which vanquished the most
dangerous terrorist outfit. When the war was waged, many accused we are
making a futile effort but the President completed it keeping the word.
It is our duty to hand over a strong country to the president to achieve
a greatest development," she said.
SLFP general secretary Maithripala Sirisena said SLFP is the true
patriotic people's force in the motherland. Four presidential elections
out of six were won by the SLFP. The UNP which was once a prestigious
party, is now helpless. The people have totally rejected it. Both the
JVP and UNP did not comprehend necessities and aspirations of the
people. They worked with the agendas which were drafted and backed by
alien unpatriotic forces, the Minister explained.
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council member Kanchana Jayarathna, Textile
Minister Mahinda Rathnathilaka and Karu Paranawithana also attended the
conference. |
