Harbour projects open to public

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority has decided to allow the public to view development projects in the Colombo Harbour during weekends.

The Colombo Harbour

The Colombo Harbour is progressing into a modern harbour with improved facilities under its harbour development projects.

Since the security situation is better, the Ports Authority has decided to let the public visit its construction sites.

Earlier, visitors were permitted to enter the harbour premises under high security.

People are advised to come to the Galbokka Lighthouse along the Harbour entrance Chithya Para.

From the Lighthouse, the visitors can view the projects. The Colombo Harbour Development Project commenced in April 2008. Under the first phase, more than six kilometre main and water breakers, access roads, jetty, and other construction work are being carried out.

When the project is completed the land area of the Colombo Harbour will increase to 500 acres.
